This creates a feeling of excitement and tension because it makes us wonder whether this is the final Bond film and that we will never have the enjoyment of watching another. Making the audience really eager to see the film. The voice-over ends as the gunfires. The music in the James Bond trailer is consistent throughout. After the dark introduction, it is the original theme tune for Bond on electric guitars played by Oakefield. This helps to portray the common typical conventions of a Bond film, and it is used successfully to promote this film. In Spiderman the music is a strong, loud action tune that is constantly increasing in tempo throughout the trailer continuously through to the end. This music helps to portray the fast pace action theme on screen. Whereas in Lord of the Rings the music starts off slow like the others but is not an action track like the others. It is very slow. It is a resonating, dramatic type tune that is really noticed at the start, but carefully and sutily, unlike the others it builds up in volume and tempo until it is really loud and standing out and shocks the viewer because they didnt see it coming. Essentially standing out from the rest of the trailer and making an impression on the watcher that is a film not to be missed. The music is used to great effect on this to advertise this in a really good way that works. In James Bond the only language that appears on screen is at the end. The words Pierce Brosnan break through the picture. They are an icy cold style of writing in white with a pitch-black backdrop. Then Die Another Day appears in the same style. Suddenly the barrel of the gun surrounds the writing. Then as the smoke is being blown away it turns into icy cold words Coming Soon. These are over a black background creating a final eerie feeling. The text on Spiderman is of the same icy cold feeling, again at the end of the trailer. The blue letters Spiderman, Coming Soon. swing onto the screen. Very quick and impressive onto the viewer but is quickly gone ending the trailer, leaving a lasting impression of the theme of the trailer and film. The title graphics in Lord of the Rings is very different from the other two. The text pops up throughout the trailer. It is a very bold, gold text using short phrases and hints of the plot, Fate has Chosen him, suggesting that he was meant to get the ring, that it is his destiny. Overall I think all the trailers do really well to promote each of the films. They all use a variety of techniques to show good aspects of the films. Most of the trailers use the same techniques in this genre but they are all used to promote each film in a way that suits it. I think that the James Bond trailer is the best at making the film appeal to the viewer. And even though Lord of the Rings is my favourite film. I feel that James Bond was much better at promoting the film, which after all is what it was made to do.

Kazuo Ishiguro Wins the 2017 Nobel Prize in Literature British author Kazuo Ishiguro won the Nobel Prize in Literature this year. Nominated alongside authors Margaret Atwood and Haruki Murakami, Ishiguro won unexpectedly, most shockingly to himself. Despite his fairly small literary output, the author of The Remains of a Day and Never Let Me Go is now in the company of legendary literary figures including Toni Morrison and Pablo Neruda. While the win is a personal victory for Ishiguro and a huge step in his career, it also symbolizes the progress of untraditional, speculative fiction- a genre that is often overlooked, especially in a literary community that values realistic fiction. The movement has inspired numerous individuals to break their silence and share their haunting experiences with the public. Women have come forward from all walks of life to share their personal accounts of sexual harassment and assault- most notably in the workplace. While each individual’s story is unique to their experience, their voices would not be recirculated and shared to the extent it has without the help from countless journalists, writers, and publishers who are dedicated to promoting a culture of truth. We may have crawled our way to the finish line, but the good news is 2017 is officially over. We embrace the fresh start of a new year and try to establish an optimistic perspective on what’s ahead. While it’s difficult to find comfort in our current political climate, we can look forward to many things on the literary horizon. One to one point five percent of the total population suffers from schizophrenia. The severity of the symptoms and chronic patterns of schizophrenia often causes a high degree of disability. Most of those affected by schizophrenia respond to drug therapy and many are able to lead productive and fulfilling lives. Studies have shown that genetics, neurobiology, environmental, psychological and social factors are important contributory factors of schizophrenia. Some of the recreational activities and medications might cause or worsen symptoms. Researchers in the psychiatric field are now focused on the role of neurobiology, but no single organic cause has been found. Genetic causes could put a person at higher risk for developing schizophrenia and stressful life events could trigger onset of the symptoms. (Sahebarao mahadik, 2008) Schizophrenia is characterized a constellation of distinctive and predictable symptoms. The symptoms that are not commonly associated with the disease are called positive symptoms and negative symptoms. These symptoms will lead to isolation in the patients. During World War One, the role of airplanes and how they were used changed greatly. At first planes were only used for sport, but people started realize that not only could airplanes be useful but they could even influence an outcome of the war greatly. Soon the war was filled with blimps, planes, and tethered balloons. By the end of the war, planes became a symbol of fear, but they were not always treated with such respect. In the time leading up to the war, the general feeling about planes was, they were a sneaky, unfair tactic that should not be used in warfare. During The 1899 Hague Peace Conference it was put on record that the dropping or shooting of any projectiles or explosives from the air during a time of war was forbidden and was considered a crime of war. It was also decided that airplanes could only be used for reconnaissance or spying missions. (Villard-227) â€Å"The airplane may be all very well for sport, but for the army it is useless† (Quoted in Villard-227) Even by the beginning of the war in 1912, the use of planes in war was still prohibited by the War Office. Shortly thereafter this changed, people awakened to the possibilities of air warfare. The world soon started to realize the effectiveness of planes in war and how the control of the skies could influence the outcome. Although the French were the first to have a working, conscripting air force and to license fliers, their trust in airplanes still was not up to par. Their lack of trust was justified, for the planes had no armaments, too many wires, and no reliable motor. (Villard-228) Soon all countries in the war effort had their own little air force, built hangers, and started to train pilots. The first bombing occurred in November 1911. Although the first bomb was dropped by the Italians, soon all countries were involved in bombing raids. (Villard-229) It was followed by the first aerial dogfight in 1912. General McClellan went into battle against the South with a balloon corps floated by hydrogen and pulled by four horses. In my opinion, I believe that the President of the United States of America has just enough power to run our country, deal with foreign and domestic policies, and fight the War on Terror In this essay, I will discuss my opinion, what the president’s powers are under the Constitution, and whether or not the president’s role has expanded beyond these powers in domestic and foreign policy. Under Article II, Section 2 and Section 3 of the Constitution, it outlines the powers and duties of the president. The President holds two main roles: he is the Head of State and is the Chief of Government. The powers and duties that fall under these roles are identified as two main sources of power; his expressed powers and his delegated powers. The expressed powers are specifically defined powers that cannot be revoked by Congress or any agencies without an amendment to the Constitution. The delegated powers are the powers given to the president by Congress. Examples of expressed powers are the authorization to make treaties, grant pardons, and nominate judges and other public officials. The president also has the power to receive ambassadors and command the military forces of the United States. The delegated powers under Article II of the Constitution state that the President â€Å"shall take Care that Laws be faithfully executed†. These powers delegate that the President will only have the authority to carry out decisions through identification and development. Out of every country in the world, our president is the only one with both roles as the Head of State and Chief of Government. A third power, that is not stated in the Constitution, but is claimed occasionally by the President are inherent powers. The inherent powers are said to stem from â€Å"the rights, duties and obligations of the presidency†. These powers are exercised by presidents in times of war or national emergency. One of the President’s biggest powers that are applied as part of his inherent powers is the power to declare war. The President’s express powers are divided into five categories. The five categories are: Military, Judicial, Diplomatic, Executive, and Legislative. Beneath the Military category, it affirms that under Article II, Section 2; the President is provided the power as â€Å"Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States and of the militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States. † Beneath the Judicial category, it affirms under Article II, Section 2; the President is provided the power to â€Å"grant Reprieves and Pardons for Offences against the United States, except in Cases of Impeachment.† Beneath the diplomatic category under Article II, Section 2; the President is provided the power â€Å"to make Treaties by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate. † Additionally, under Article II, Section 3; the President is provided the power to â€Å"receive Ambassadors and other Public Ministers. † Beneath the Executive category, it affirms under Article II, section 3; the President is authorized to see to it that all laws are faithfully executed. Additionally, Section 2 gives the chief executive power to appoint, remove, and supervise all executive officers and to appoint all federal judges. Under the Legislative branch, it affirms under Article 1, section 7 and Article II, Section 3 that the President has the power to participate authoritatively in the legislative process. The military authorities granted to the President are amongst the most important powers granted to someone leading the United States of America. As the President of the United States, you are granted the position as commander in chief. The position of commander and chief deems the President the highest military authority in the United States with control of the entire defense establishment. Additionally, the President is head of the nation’s intelligence network, which includes the CIA, NSC, NSA, and the FBI, which are among the most well regarded intelligence networks in the world. The constitution is the main principle in giving President’s the power to declare war; however, many Presidents’ decide to capture this power for themselves without consulting Congress. This is a resolution of Congress that the President can send troops into action abroad only by authorization of Congress, or if American troops are already under attack. For example, when President Bush responded to the attacks on the World Trade Centers in New York on September 11th, 2001 he ordered a major military campaign to overthrow the Taliban regime in Afghanistan. Again in 2002, President Bush ordered a huge American campaign against Iraq to overthrow the Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, whom he believed had links to the terrorist network that attacked the United States. President Bush publically made it a point to state that he did not need Congress’s authorization to declare war against organizations deemed an imminent threat against the United States of America. This is what is called the War Powers Resolution. The Judicial Powers granted to the President of the United States give him or her power to grant reprieves, pardons, and amnesties. Additionally, it involves power over all individuals who may be a threat to the security of the United States. Presidents may use this power to grant a reprieve on behalf of a particular individual. An example of reprieve for one particular individual would be when President Gerald Ford granted a pardon for former President, Richard Nixon, for â€Å"all offenses against the United States which he †¦ has committed or may have committed.† The Diplomatic Powers declare that our President is also our countries â€Å"Head of State†, or its chief representative when dealing with other countries. The title of Head of State grants the President the power to make treaties for the United States. The power of receiving Ambassadors and other Public Ministers was pushed through Congress under President Washington’s leadership in 1793. This power allows the President almost unrestricted authority to review the claims of any new ruling groups to determine whether they indeed control the territory and population they claim is theirs. The Executive Power, which is another one of the most important power’s as chief executive states that the President must ensure that all laws are faithfully executed. Additionally, this appoints the President to assign, remove, and supervise all executive officers and federal judges. These powers, under the Constitution, basically appoint the President as the true Chief Executive Officer of the United States. Another component the President is granted as chief executive is â€Å"executive privilege†. Executive privilege claims that confidential communications between the President and close executives are to be kept confidential and are not to be revealed without express permission for the President. The Legislative Power is broken down into two Constitutional provisions. The first of these provisions is under Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution and it states that the President â€Å"shall from time to time give to the Congress information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient.† The second provision states the President has the power to veto. The veto is the President’s constitutional power to turn down acts of Congress. Other powers that are granted to the President are his â€Å"Delegated Powers. † These powers are not found in the Constitution but are product of congressional statutes and resolutions given to the President over the last century. The delegation of powers has been an almost inescapable consequence of the expansion of government activity in the United States. In conclusion, my belief is that the president has just enough power to run our country, deal with foreign and domestic policies, and fight the War on Terror. Because of the President’s two main sources of power, which are his express powers and delegated powers, it enables him to fulfill his duties and obligations without having too much power over our government and legislation.
